Project Example

Location' Horsforth, a detached cottage of substantial character, in a desirable location, This project involves specialist skills to remove the current render system and restore the natural stone behind.

This will be done to the front elevation, the rest of the property will be dashed using a self coloured polymer mortar factory graded.

The newly exposed stone on the front elevation, will be cleaned using a "chemical wash or a sandblast" method, the existing pointing will then be removed to 20mm deep.

The joints will be injected with pre-bagged specialist motor, and re-pointed with a brush flush finish, water repellent spray will be applied for future exposure to the elements.

Below are some photographs of the property before starting.
Phase 1 - Underway

The pictures below show the exposed Yorkshire stone bricks, which were once hidden by a rendered coating. On the front of the property these bricks will be cleaned, sandblasted and pointed.

Phase 2 - Sandblasting

The front elevation including chimney stacks was sandblasted to bring the natural stone colour back to life, brightening and enhancing the property.

Phase 3 - Base coat with integral PVC reinforcing mesh

Below you can see the stages of applying a Polymer base coat with integral PVC reinforcing mesh within, the PVC reinforcing mesh isn't necessary on every project, but is applied where there is risk of the final aggregate finish cracking months later.

It is applied to properties were there is a clear sign that the building foundations or walls are moving slightly, this method ensures whether the building moves slightly or not, the final coat stays rigid and tough for many years.

Finish - Pointing and Traditional Aggregate is applied

The front of the property is pointed and the three other elevations are dashed in a traditional aggregate as well as the garage, the window sills and heads are re-painted to enhance the quality and depth of the restored stonework.

EXTERIORS - ALWAYS A JOB WELL DONE
